Decorative Details: Horns and Paws

For these pieces, we will change to your secondary color. These are worked as “cones” or “puffs” directly into the body rounds.

The Horns

The standard way to make these is a cone of 3 DC with a common top. However, for a much fluffier, more pronounced look, I recommend using 2 TR instead. Work these into Round 5 of the head.

The Paws

Similar to the horns, these are worked into the rounds to create a little bump. For a fuller look, use 3 TR instead of 5 DC. Follow the placement mentioned in the body instructions (Rounds 10, 11, 15, and 16).

The Ears

Make 2 ears using your main body color.

Ears: Using a MR, work: 2 SC, 1 DC, 1 CH, 1 DC, 2 SC, SL ST. Leave a long tail for sewing. Sew the ears between rounds 5 and 6 of the head, tucked slightly behind the horns.

The Wings

Make 2 wings using white yarn. Unlike the body, wings are worked in rows (back and forth), not in a circle.

Round 1: 8 CH. Starting in the second chain from the hook, work in the opposite direction: 7 SC. Turn.

Round 2: 7 SC, 1 CH, turn.

Round 3: 5 SC, leave the last 2 stitches unworked, 2 CH, turn.
