After Round 20: Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail. Thread the yarn through a yarn needle. Weave the needle through the front loops of all 7 remaining stitches. Pull tight to close the opening and hide the yarn end.


Part 2: Front Paws (Make 2)

Attach beige yarn to the first skipped stitch of any front paw opening (the chain spaces we left in Round 02 of the head).

Work 8 sc around the opening (2 sc on the skipped stitches, 2 sc in the gap, 2 sc on the front loops of the chain, 2 sc in the other gap). This is counted as Round 01 of the paw.

Do not cut the yarn. Flatten the ear. Work 4 sc through both edges to close (see Photo 11).

Cut the yarn, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Make a second ear following the same instructions.

Attach the Ears

Sew both ears to the head, following Photos 12 and 13 in the original pattern. Position them on the sides of the head, slightly lower than the top.


Part 4: Face Details

Nose

Using black yarn, embroider the nose with about 15 stitches, starting and ending at the same point (see Photo 14).

Mouth

Embroider the mouth with two long stitches, starting and ending at the same point (see Photo 15). This creates the classic dachshund “smile.”


Part 5: Back Opening (Stuffing the Body)

Attach beige yarn to the other end of the tube (where the first and last rows were joined – see Photo 16).

Work 24 sc around this opening. This is counted as Round 1 of the BACK.
