Do not cut the yarn – continue to the belly, working along the largest opening only.

Part 3: Belly

Work 3 sc of alignment at the end of the last row of the chest and move the marker – this is the new beginning of the round.

Stitches made in this round: 24
Total stitches along the edge: 44

Do not cut the yarn – continue to the lower body.

Part 4: Lower Body

The last round of the belly was 21 stitches shorter than a regular round should be. If you are using a stitch marker, move it 24 stitches forward.

Stuff the body not too firmly. Do not stuff the legs. To allow the toy to stand on its own, the lower side should remain flat.

  • Round 50: BLO – (dec, 2 sc) × 11 times (33)
  • Round 51: (dec, sc) × 11 times (22)
  • Round 52: 11 dec (11)
  • Round 53: sc, 5 dec (6)

Fasten off. Pull the opening tight to close.

Part 5: Paws (Make 2)

Attach new yarn to the first free stitch of any paw opening. Work 12 sc around the opening, then continue with the instructions below.

  • Round 2: (dec, 4 sc) × 2 times (10)
  • Rounds 3-9 (7 rounds): sc in each stitch (10)

Right paw:

  • Round 10: 6 sc, (4 sc in next stitch) × 2 times, 2 sc (16)

Left paw:

  • Round 10: 2 sc, (4 sc in next stitch) × 2 times, 6 sc (16)
  • Round 11: sc in each stitch (16)

Stuff the paw.

  • Round 12: BLO – 8 dec (8)

Fasten off. Pull the opening tight to close.

Part 6: Tail

Stuff the tail as you go. The thinnest part of the tail (Rounds 32-39) should not be stuffed so the tail can bend slightly.

  • Round 1: 6 sc in MR (6)
  • Round 2: inc in each stitch (12)
  • Round 3: (sc, inc) × 6 times (18)
  • Round 4: skip 7 stitches, 11 sc (11)
  • Rounds 5-12 (8 rounds): sc in each stitch (11)
  • Round 13: dec, 9 sc (10)
  • Rounds 14-21 (8 rounds): sc in each stitch (10)
  • Round 22: dec, 8 sc (9)
  • Rounds 23-30 (8 rounds): sc in each stitch (9)
  • Round 31: dec, 7 sc (8)
  • Rounds 32-39 (8 rounds): sc in each stitch (8)

Fasten off. Pull the opening tight to close.

Attach the tail to the cat’s body as shown in the picture. Sew both pieces together
