Pattern Instructions
Part 1: Making the Cups (Make 2)
The cups are worked flat from the center bottom up, increasing to form a rounded shape.
Foundation:
- XS: Chain 8
- S: Chain 8
- M: Chain 9
- L: Chain 9
Row 1: Chain the appropriate number for your size.
Row 2 (Forming the Cup):
- Ch 1 and turn. This does NOT count as a stitch.
- Hdc in each chain across.
- In the very last chain, work 4 more hdc for a total of 5 hdc in that stitch. This will allow you to turn your work and start crocheting along the other side of the starting chain.
- Hdc in each remaining chain stitch on the other side. You should now have an equal number of stitches on each side of the foundation chain.
Row 3 (Increasing):
- Ch 1 and turn (does not count as a stitch).
- Hdc in every stitch until you reach the top of the rounded edge (the cluster of 5 hdc).
- Work 5 hdc into the 3rd hdc of the 5-hdc group from the previous row.
- Hdc in each remaining stitch to the end of the row.
- Repeat Row 3 until you have the required number of hdc rows for your size:
- XS & S: 6 rows total
- M: 6 rows total
- L: 7 rows total
Double Crochet Rows:
- Now, switch to double crochet (dc) rows.
- Ch 2 and turn (counts as first dc).
- Dc in every stitch.
- When you reach the top of the rounded edge, work 5 dc into the 3rd stitch of the 5-stitch group from the previous row.
- Dc in each remaining stitch to the end.
- Repeat these dc rows until you have the required number for your size, or until the cup is 1 row shy of your desired size:
- XS: 2 rows DC
- S: 3 rows DC
- M: 5 rows DC
- L: 7 rows DC
