Part 4: Assembly and Finishing

Attach the Eyes

  1. Sew the white eye pieces to the front of the head (Zone 1, around Rounds 4-6).
  2. Attach the safety eyes (8.0 mm) to the center of each white piece. If using beads or buttons instead, sew them on securely.
  3. Alternatively, you can glue the safety eyes in place for extra security.

Attach the Wings

The wings are attached to Zone 2 (the middle segment of the body).

  1. Position the upper wings first. They should be attached higher up on the sides of Zone 2.
  2. Position the lower wings slightly lower and slightly behind the upper wings.
  3. Sew each wing securely using the long tails you left.
  4. For a more dynamic look, gently curve the wings outward (like a real dragonfly in flight) before sewing them down.

Optional Embellishments

  • Add a small jump ring to the top of the head (between the eyes) to turn your dragonfly into a keychain or bag charm.
  • Embroider a tiny smile on the face using black thread.
  • Decorate the wings with small beads, sequins, or a touch of glitter glue for extra sparkle.

Congratulations! Your Dragonfly Is Ready to Fly.

You did it! Your little dragonfly is complete, and she is absolutely adorable. With her big sparkly eyes, delicate wings, and segmented green body, she looks just like she is ready to hover over a pond and chase away mosquitoes.

This little dragonfly is perfect for:

  • Keychains – add a jump ring and carry her everywhere
  • Bag charms – clip her onto your backpack or purse
  • Gifts – make a whole swarm for friends and family
  • Nature lovers – a cute, non-creepy bug for people who usually don’t like bugs!

The best part? Because she is small and uses very little yarn, you can easily make a rainbow of dragonflies – pink, blue, purple, yellow – each one unique and special.

Thank you for crocheting with me today, and thank you to SofiaSerovaRu for designing this sweet little pattern.

Now go let your new little friend stretch her wings. Happy crocheting
