Instructions

Part 1: Cottage Scene Center Panel

The center panel is worked diagonally from corner to corner using a “block” technique. Each square on the design chart represents one block.

Note on Color Changes: Wind small balls of yarn for each separate color area. To change color, work until two loops remain on the hook, draw the new color through those loops, and proceed with the new color.

The Block Foundation:

  • 1st row: With Color A, ch 6. 1 dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 2 dc), 1 dc in each of last 2 ch. Turn. (1 block made).
  • 2nd row: Ch 6. 1 dc in 4th ch from hook, 1 dc in each of next 2 ch (beginning block made). (Sl st, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-3 sp (second block made). Turn. (2 blocks).
  • 3rd row: Begin block. *Work a block in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * to end of row. Turn. (3 blocks).

Completing the Panel:

Continue repeating the 3rd row, following the color changes on your chart, until the 36th row is complete.

Evening the Sides:

  • 37th row: Sl st in each of first 3 dc. *Block in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * to end of row. Turn.
  • 38th row: Beg block. *Block in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * to last ch-3 sp. Sl st in last ch-3 sp (do not make a block). Turn.
  • 39th to 44th rows: Repeat the last 2 rows 3 more times.

Decreasing the Corner:

  • 46th row (RS): Sl st in each of first 3 dc. *Block in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * to last ch-3 sp. Sl st in last ch-3 sp (do not make a block). Turn.
  • Continue repeating the last row until only 1 block remains. Fasten off.

Part 2: Top Edge Panel

Join Color E with a slip stitch to the top right corner of the Center Panel.

  • 1st row: Ch 1. Work 90 sc evenly across the top edge. Turn.
  • Remaining Rows: Follow the top edge flower chart using single crochet. Each square equals 1 sc. Read RS rows from right to left and WS rows from left to right. Fasten off.

Part 3: Bottom Edge Panel

With RS facing and the center panel pointing down, join Color E with a slip stitch to the bottom left corner. Repeat the same process used for the Top Edge Panel.

Part 4: Side Panels

First Side Panel: Join Color E with a slip stitch to the bottom right corner of the Center Panel.

  • 1st row: Ch 1. Work 112 sc evenly along the side edge. Turn.
  • Remaining Rows: Follow the side panel chart using single crochet (1 square = 1 sc). Read RS rows right to left and WS rows left to right. Fasten off.

Second Side Panel: Join Color E with a slip stitch to the top left corner of the Center Panel. Repeat the process used for the First Side Panel.
