Soldier Doll Crochet Pattern

Materials:

  1. Yarn:
    • “Krokha” (80% acrylic, 20% wool, 135m/50g) – Almond color
    • “Pekhorka Detskaya Novinka” (100% acrylic, 200m/50g) – Olive color
    • Small amounts of beige, yellow, and orange yarn
  2. Hook: Size 2
  3. Filling: Hollow fiber (holofiber)
  4. Eyes: 2 black beads
  5. Thread: Black mouline or Iris thread
  6. Tools: Needle, scissors.

Finished toy height: 12 cm

Abbreviations:

  • ch – chain stitch
  • sl st – slip stitch
  • sc – single crochet
  • hdc – half double crochet
  • inc – increase (2 sc in 1 stitch)
  • dec – decrease (sc 2 together)
  • st – stitch

Pattern Instructions:

Legs, Body, and Head:

Begin with the legs in black yarn.

Leg (Make 2):

  1. 2 ch, 6 sc in the 2nd ch from hook = 6 st.
  2. (1 sc, inc) x 3 = 9 sc.
  3. 9 sc.
  4. 2 dec, 5 sc = 7 st.
    5-6. 7 sc (2 rows).
    Switch to olive yarn.
    7-10. 7 sc (4 rows).
    Cut yarn, stuff the leg. Repeat for the second leg, but do not cut yarn after the second leg.

Join Legs:
11. 7 sc (1st leg), 2 sc in ch, 7 sc (2nd leg), 2 sc in ch = 18 st.
12-13. 18 sc (2 rows).
14. 2 dec (1 dec on each side) = 16 st.
15. 2 dec (1 dec on each side) = 14 st.
Stuff the body as you go.
16-17. 14 sc (2 rows).
18. 2 inc (1 inc on each side) = 16 st.
19. 16 sc.
20. (2 sc, dec) x 4 = 12 st.
21. 6 dec = 6 st.
22. 6 sc.

Head (Switch to almond yarn):
23. 6 inc = 12 st.
24. (1 sc, inc) x 6 = 18 st.
25. (2 sc, inc) x 6 = 24 st.
26. (3 sc, inc) x 6 = 30 st.
27. (4 sc, inc) x 6 = 36 st.
28-29. 36 sc (2 rows).
30. (4 sc, dec) x 6 = 30 st.
31-32. 30 sc (2 rows).
33. (3 sc, dec) x 6 = 24 st.
Stuff the head.
34. (2 sc, dec) x 6 = 18 st.
35. (1 sc, dec) x 6 = 12 st.
36. 6 dec = 6 st. Close the hole.

Arms (Almond yarn):

  1. 2 ch, 6 sc in the 2nd ch = 6 st.
  2. 6 sc.
  3. 3 hdc in 1 st (thumb), 5 sc = 6 st.
    Switch to olive yarn.
    4-9. 6 sc (5 rows).
    Stuff halfway, close the hole, leave yarn for sewing

Nose (Almond yarn):

  1. 2 ch, 6 sc in the 2nd ch = 6 st.
  2. 6 inc = 12 st.
  3. 12 sc.
  4. 6 dec = 6 st.
    Cut yarn, leave thread for sewing

Helmet (Olive yarn):

  1. 2 ch, 6 sc in the 2nd ch = 6 st.
    2-6. Repeat rows 23-27 of the head pattern (increase to 36 st).
    7-12. 36 sc. Try on the toy for fit!
  2. Alternate 1 sc, inc to end = 54 st.

Helmet Strap (Beige yarn):

  • 16 ch, 15 sc across. Attach to the helmet (adjust on the head)

Belt (Black yarn):

  • 16 ch, 1 sc in the 2nd ch and across = 15 sc.
    Sew onto the toy with the seam in front. Embroider a yellow buckle.

Assembly:

  1. Collar: Wrap olive yarn around the neck and embroider a “fastener.”
  2. Nose: Sew between rows 4-6 of the head. Attach eyes above it.
  3. Details:
    • Embroider mouth, eyebrows, and hair with black thread.
    • Add ears with almond yarn stitches.
    • Blush the cheeks. Optional: Add a “medal” on the chest.
