Crochet a Whimsical Drakosha Moksi Dragon

Crochet a Whimsical Drakosha Moksi Dragon

Part 6: Body & Assembly

This is the most complex part, where you will attach the limbs and incorporate the main wire armature.

  1. Attach yarn to the back loops of the head.
  2. Work the initial rounds to form the neck and shoulders.
  3. Attaching Arms: When directed in the pattern, you will work your stitches around the arm stitches to attach them seamlessly to the body. This is typically done over 3 stitches per arm.
  4. Insert the main wire armature into the body, connecting it to the head and limb wires. Wrap joints with tape for security.
  5. Stuff the body firmly as you work.
  6. Attaching Legs: Further down the body, you will attach the legs using the same method as the arms, working your body stitches around the leg stitches.
  7. Continue working the body, following the detailed decrease rounds to shape the torso and tail. The pattern uses many “displacement stitches” (sl st) to shift the start of the round for proper shaping.
  8. Finally, close the tip of the tail.

Part 7: Details (Spikes, Horns, Wings, Heart)

  • Spikes: Using an accent color, attach yarn 1 row below the eyelids. To make a spike: Ch 3, work 4 dc into the same stitch. Remove the hook, insert it into the top of the starting ch-3, and pull the loop through to form a bobble. Repeat every 2-3 rows along the spine to the tail.
  • Horns (Make 2):
    • Rnd 1: 4 sc in a MR.
    • Rnd 2: Inc, sc 3. (5)
    • Rnd 3: Inc, sc 4. (6) Fasten off, leaving a tail to sew onto the head.
  • Wings (Make 2): Crochet according to the diagram provided in the PDF using an accent color. Outline the wings with a round of sc. Sew onto the back.
  • Heart: Crochet a small heart (using a chart from the pattern or a standard heart pattern) in an accent color and sew it onto the dragon’s belly.
  • Heart Ball (Optional): The pattern includes instructions for a small, posable heart held in the dragon’s paw, complete with its own internal wire.
