Head

Yarn: Main color | Hook: 4mm

1. Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring.
2. Rounds 2–6: Increase evenly (6 sts per round) until you reach 36 sts.
3. Rounds 7–10: 36sc (4 rounds).
4. Rounds 11–14: Decrease evenly to close. Stuff firmly.

Beak

Yarn: Dark grey | Hook: 4mm

1. Round 1: 16sc around a chain.
2. Rounds 2–4: 16sc (3 rounds).
3. Rounds 5–6: Decrease to shape the beak.
4. Round 8: 12inc (24 sts). Do not stuff

Assembly

1. Attach Safety Eyes: Place between Rounds 7–8, 8 stitches apart.
2. Needle Sculpting: Use a needle to create dimples around the eyes for a lifelike look.
3. Sew the Beak: Position it below the eyes and stitch securely.
4. Attach Paws & Tail: Sew the limbs to the body for a playful pose.
5. Forelock (Optional): Add a tuft of yarn on the head for extra charm.

Platypus Egg (Optional)

Yarn: Milk color | Hook: 4mm

1. Round 1: 6sc in a magic ring (or 2ch, 6sc in the 2nd ch).
2. Round 2: 6inc (12 sts).
3. Round 3: (1sc, 1inc) x6 (18 sts).
4. Round 4: (2sc, 1inc) x6 (24 sts).
5. Round 5: (3sc, 1inc) x6 (30 sts).
6. Round 6: (4sc, 1inc) x6 (36 sts).
7. Round 7: (5sc, 1inc) x6 (42 sts).
8. Round 8: (6sc, 1inc) x6 (48 sts).
9. Rounds 9–15: 48sc (7 rounds).
10. Round 16: (3dc in one loop, slip stitch, 1sc, 1sc) repeat 12 times to create a ruffled edge.
11. Stuff lightly and sew the opening closed.

Tip: Place the egg under your platypus’s belly or let it “hold” it with its paws for extra cuteness!
