Handle for Scythe & Staff (in Torree)

  1. Row 1: Ch 11.
  2. Row 2: Skip the first ch, 10 sc across. [10]
  3. Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 10 sc. [10]
  4. Fasten off, leaving a long tail (leave an even longer tail for the staff).

Scythe Blade (in Cloudy Day)

  1. Rnd 1: 4 sc in a magic ring. [4]
  2. Rnd 2: 3 sc, 1 inc. [5]
  3. Rnd 3: 4 sc, 1 inc. [6]
  4. Rnd 4: 5 sc, 1 inc. [7]
  5. Rnd 5: 6 sc, 1 inc. [8]
  6. Rnd 6: 7 sc, 1 inc. [9]

Magic Ball (in Turquoise)

  1. Rnd 1: 6 sc in a magic ring. [6]
  2. Rnd 2: 6 inc. [12]
  3. Rnd 3: (1 sc, 1 inc) around. [18]
  4. Rnds 4-5: 1 sc in each stitch. [18]
  5. Rnd 6: (1 sc, 1 dec) around. [12]
  6. Stuff lightly. Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Close the opening using the front loops

Assembly & Finishing

Magic Staff Assembly

  1. Place a pipe cleaner inside the handle for stability.
  2. Use the long tail to sew the long sides of the handle together, encasing the pipe cleaner.
  3. Position the magic ball on top of the handle and sew it firmly in place.
  4. With the remaining yarn tail, chain about 20 stitches. You can braid this chain to create 3 tassels or “prongs” at the top of the staff.

Scythe Assembly

  1. Place a pipe cleaner inside the handle for stability and sew the long sides together.
  2. Position the scythe blade so the curved end points upward. Sew the two straight ends of the blade together, wrapping them around and securing them to the top of the handle.

Final Doll Assembly

  1. Place the finished head inside the hood. Use the long tail from the hood to sew it neatly around the face, hiding the head’s color change.
  2. Position the hooded head onto the body and sew it securely in place.
  3. Use the template on the last page of the original PDF as a guide to cut out small pink felt circles for blushes. Glue them onto the face, on the round below the eyes.
  4. Add any other small felt details you like.
  5. Gently bend the pipe cleaners in the accessories to pose them. Sew the handle of either the scythe or the staff into one of the doll’s hands. You can choose to sew it permanently or leave it removable!
