  • Hook: 2.5mm (or size for tight stitches).
  • Extras:
    • Fiberfill stuffing.
    • Wire (for arm structure).
    • Yarn needle, scissors, pins.

Abbreviations (US Terms)

  • st: Stitch
  • CH: Chain
  • X: Single Crochet (SC)
  • V: Increase (2 SC in one st)
  • A: Decrease (invisible preferred)
  • SI/SLST: Slip Stitch
  • FLO/BLO: Front/Back Loop Only
  • Magic Ring: Adjustable loop start

Step-by-Step Pattern

1. Head & Body (Spiral Crochet)

(Work in continuous rounds without joining unless noted.)

  • R1: 6X in MR. (6 sts)
  • R2: 6V. (12 sts)
  • R3: (X, V) x6. (18 sts)
  • Continue increasing every round until R42: 48X. (48 sts)
  • R43-47: 48X (5 rounds even).
  • R48: BLO 48X (creates a neckline).
  • Decrease Rounds:
    • R49: (6X, A) x6. (42 sts)
    • Continue decreasing every round until:
    • R55: 6A. Close hole, FO.

2. Ears (Make 2)

First Ear:

  • R1: 6X in MR. Do not join. Ch1, turn.
  • R2: 5V. Ch3, 3X into 2nd CH from hook. SLST to R1. FO.

Second Ear:

  • R1: 6X in MR.
  • R2: Ch3, 3X into 2nd CH from hook. SLST to R1, 5V. FO.

*Sew ears to sides of head (around R20-25).*

3. Arms (Make 2, with Wire for Poseability)

  • R1: 7X in MR. (7 sts)
  • R2-14: 7X (13 rounds).
  • Insert wire, fold in half, sew with 3X. FO, leave tail to attach to body (at R32).

4. Legs (Make 2)

  • R1: 3CH, X in 2nd CH from hook, 3X in last CH, 2X on opposite side. (6 sts)
  • R2-3: 6X.
  • R4: Ch1, turn, SK1, 2X.
  • R5: Ch1, turn, SK1, X. Mark as new start.
  • R6-11: Follow increase pattern to 18 sts.
  • R12-18: Shape calf (see PDF for full details). FO, stuff firmly.

5. Robes & Pants

Pants:

  • Join yarn to FLO of leg’s R13, 21X around.
  • Work even for 3 rounds, then increase to 24 sts. FO.

Robe:

  • R1: 25CH, 24X starting in 2nd CH.
  • R2-14: Follow increase pattern to 60 sts.
  • Sleeves: Join yarn to armholes, work 12X and increase to 24 sts.

Assembly & Finishing

  1. Attach Limbs: Sew arms at R32 of body, legs at base.
  2. Embroider Details: Add closed eyes or a subtle smile with black yarn.
  3. Final Touch: Single crochet around robe edges for neatness.
