Crochet Daisy Pattern Instructions

This pattern is broken down into five parts: the stem, two leaves, the back of the flower, the front of the flower, and the petals. Follow each section to create all the pieces for your beautiful daisy.

A quick note: The stitch count at the end of each row or round is noted in brackets [ ]. This count does not include any starting chains.

How to Crochet the Stem

Using your green yarn:

Row 1: Chain 37. Starting in the third chain from the hook, work 1 DC in each chain across. [35 sts]

Fasten off, leaving a very long tail for sewing. You will use this tail to sew the long sides of the stem together around the wooden dowel.

  • Step 1: Chain 7 to create your foundation chain.
  • Step 2: Starting in the second chain from the hook, work the following stitches in order down the chain: 1 sl st, 1 SC, 2 HDC, and 1 DC. You will have one chain remaining. [5 sts]
  • Step 3: In the very last chain, you will create the pointed tip of the leaf. Work all of these 6 stitches into that final chain: 2 DC, 2 HDC, and 2 DC. [6 sts]
  • Step 4: Now, working along the opposite side of your foundation chain, place the following stitches in the remaining 5 loops: 1 DC, 2 HDC, 1 SC, and 1 sl st. [5 sts]

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing the leaf onto the stem later.

Assembling Your Crochet Daisy

With all your pieces crocheted, it’s time to bring your daisy to life!

Step 1: Assemble the Stem

Take your flat green stem piece and the wooden dowel. Place the dowel in the center of the crochet piece and fold the fabric around it. Use the long tail and a yarn needle to whip stitch the two long sides together, encasing the dowel. Make sure to leave about 7 cm of the wooden dowel exposed at the bottom.

Step 2: Attach the Leaves

Using the long tails you left on the leaves, sew the two leaves onto the stem. Position them wherever you think they look best!

Step 3: Create the Daisy Head

Place the yellow front piece and the green back piece together with wrong sides facing each other. Using the long tail from the yellow piece, begin sewing the edges together. If you’d like a fuller flower head, add a small amount of stuffing before you sew it completely closed. Once stuffed (or not), sew it shut and weave in the end.

Step 4: Attach the Petals

This is the final touch! Using the tails on each of the 20 white petals, sew them evenly around the seam of the daisy head. Position them right where the yellow and green pieces meet for a clean, natural look.

Step 5: Final Assembly

Securely sew the finished daisy head to the top of the green stem. Weave in any remaining ends, and your beautiful crochet daisy is complete
