Cozy Waves Crochet Blanket Pattern

Lina Morgen
June 28, 2025

Hello there, lovely crocheter

Are you dreaming of a cozy handmade throw to snuggle up with on chilly mornings or quiet evenings? You’re in for a treat! The Static Waves Throw is just the right mix of relaxing rhythm and satisfying texture. With its beautiful ripple effect and gently shifting color stripes, this throw is like wrapping yourself in a soft ocean of comfort.

Designed with a soothing wave-like stitch pattern, this blanket is perfect for intermediate crocheters who enjoy projects that are rhythmic and repeatable, with just enough variety to keep things interesting. The stitch pattern creates a gentle ripple—like static waves on the sea—making it as calming to look at as it is to make.

This throw makes a wonderful gift for someone special, whether you’re celebrating a birthday, baby shower, or housewarming. Or keep it for yourself as a soft reward for some well-deserved self-care. (We’re big fans of treating ourselves here)

Using Premier® Yarns Everyday® Soft Worsted, a beautifully soft and durable acrylic yarn, this project promises warmth, color, and cozy charm—all wrapped up in a finished piece that’s just the right size for a nap on the couch or an extra layer at bedtime.

So grab your favorite crochet hook, find your comfiest spot, and let’s get started on this snuggly adventure

Foundation:

With Color A, chain 146.

Row 1:

    • dc in next 6 chains*
  • Repeat from * to the last 2 chains, then dc2tog over the final 2 chains.

Row 2:

  • Chain 2, skip the first stitch.
  • Double crochet in the next 7 stitches.
  • 3 double crochets in the next stitch.
  • Double crochet in the next 6 stitches.
  • *Now do:

    • dc in next 6 stitches*
  • Repeat from * across, and dc2tog in the last 2 stitches.

Repeat Row 2

Continue repeating Row 2 while following the stripe sequence until the throw measures approximately 54 inches long.

Finishing Touches

  • Fasten off your yarn.
  • Weave in all your ends with a tapestry needle.
✨ And there you have it—your cozy throw is ready to shine

Tips for Beginners

  • This project uses basic stitches (chains and double crochets), but the ripple effect does involve increasing and decreasing. Practice dc2tog and dc3tog on a swatch if you’re new to them!
  • Use stitch markers to help track your wave pattern, especially where increases and decreases happen.
  • Don’t worry if it ripples too tightly at first—once you work a few rows, it’ll start smoothing out beautifully.

You Made a Blanket! Time to Celebrate

Creating your very own Static Waves Throw is a true accomplishment. Whether you gift it to someone special or keep it as your favorite cozy companion, you’ve made something beautiful by hand—and that’s always worth celebrating.

Stay warm, keep stitching, and come back for more crochet joy soon
