1. The Monster Bag (Body)

(Worked in continuous rounds, then rows for the flap.)

  • Foundation: Ch 24.
  • Rnd 1: Starting in the 4th ch from hook, work:
    • 20 DC down one side of the chain.
    • 3 DC in last stitch (to turn the corner).
    • 19 DC up the other side of the chain.
    • DC INC in last stitch, join with sl st. (44 sts)
  • Rnds 2–19: DC in each st around. (44 sts per rnd, 18 rnds total)

Flap (Worked in Rows):

  • Rnd 20: Ch 3, BLO 22 DC, turn. (22 sts)
  • Rnds 21–23: Ch 3, 22 DC, turn. (3 rows total)
  • Rnd 24: DC DEC, 18 DC, DC DEC. (20 sts)
  • FO, weave in ends.

2. Hands & Feet (Make 4)

(Stuff firmly before closing!)

  • Rnd 1: 6 SC in MR. (6 sts)
  • Rnd 2: 6 INC. (12 sts)
  • Rnd 3: (INC, SC) x6. (18 sts)
  • Rnds 4–5: 18 SC. (2 rnds)
  • Rnd 6: (SC, DEC) x6. (12 sts)
  • Stuff, then ch 30 for the arm/leg. FO, leaving a tail to sew.

3. Horns (Make 2, White Yarn)

  • Rnd 1: 6 SC in MR. (6 sts)
  • Rnd 2: 6 SC.
  • Rnd 3: (SC, INC) x3. (9 sts)
  • Rnd 4: 9 SC.
  • Rnd 5: (SC, INC, SC) x3. (12 sts)
  • Rnds 6–8: 12 SC. (3 rnds)
  • FO, leaving a tail to attach to the bag.

4. Eye (Black & White Yarn)

  • Rnd 1 (Black): 12 DC in MR. (12 sts)
  • Rnd 2 (White): 12 DC INC. (24 sts)
  • Rnd 3 (White): (DC, DC INC) x12. (36 sts)
  • FO, leave tail to sew onto the flap.

5. Eyelid (Green Yarn)

  • Rnd 1: 6 DC in MR. (6 sts)
  • Rnd 2: 6 DC INC. (12 sts)
  • Rnd 3: (DC, DC INC) x6. (18 sts)
  • FO, sew over the top half of the eye for a sleepy look!

6. Strap (Green Yarn)

  • Chain stitch to desired length (adjust for crossbody or shoulder carry).
  • Attach to sides of the bag.

Assembly & Finishing

  1. Sew on the limbs – Position hands/feet on the sides or front.
